Mealworm Farming Solutions™ is proud to present its D-11 LIGHTNING SIFTER™ Mealworm Pupae Sifting Pan (2nd Gen)!

Why do you need a pupae sifter?

  • Mealworm pupae should be separated so they can develop into darkling beetles (commonly referred to as "mealworm beetles") without injury, thereby allowing the darkling beetles to produce more mealworms.
  • Picking out mealworm pupae by hand is time-consuming and risks damaging the pupae.
  • A properly-designed sifter allows for quick separation with minimal stress to the pupae.
  • Using a mealworm pupae sifter is more thorough than hand separation.
  • [NOTE: The sole purpose of this sifter is to prevent larger, fully-mature pupae from falling through. For the collection of large mealworms, medium-sized mealworms, smaller-sized mealworms, and/or frass, other D-11 LIGHTNING SIFTER pan sifters are required.]

Why choose Mealworm Farming Solutions™ D-11 LIGHTNING SIFTER™ Mealworm Pupae Sifting Pan (2nd Gen)?

  • FASTER: Our D-11 LIGHTNING SIFTER™ Mealworm Pupae Sifting Pan (2nd Gen) allows for separation of mealworm pupae even faster than before, leaving mature mealworm pupae on top!
  • VERSATILE: Our 11" diameter LIGHTNING SIFTER™ sifting pans (denoted as "D-11") can be used individually or stacked together on top of a standard 5-gallon bucket!
  • DURABLE: Our LIGHTNING SIFTER™ sifting pans are made of stainless steel, which is stronger and less prone to breakage compared to wood or plastic models!
  • FUNCTIONAL: Our LIGHTNING SIFTER™ sifting pans are uniquely designed to provide ample space for separating mealworms, pupae, beetles, food substrate, and frass with ease, while allowing each pan to be placed on a flat surface without crushing anything underneath!

D-11 LIGHTNING SIFTER 5 Pan Set (2nd Gen)

These purposed mealworm sifters are seriously well thought out and constructed heirloom pieces so long as they never meet up with mealworms or superworms and their pupae the likes of the extraterrestrial sandworms on Arrakis or the Alien creature (both distant relatives of the mealworms and their pupae respectively if just going by some similarity in appearances if not by size, time and space). The Pupae tray quickly efficiently separates the pupae and of course the potato and carrot ‘chips' or ‘crisps’. A simple tap on the underside will dislodge any clinging pupae. That’s easier than trying to dislodge any pupae trapped by the plastic rib supports found on the plastic sifting trays that are really designed for panning gold. The Large, Medium and Small trays are great for spreading out the generations for a consistent supply or for sales if that’s your goal. All trays are conveniently 2x labeled for intended function. Dust is kept in check as the trays both fit snugly and securely upon each other and atop a 5 gallon bucket. Easiest to work with two buckets imo, one to store the frass and to receive the trays as you remove each layer from the sifting bucket. When done sifting, simply return the trays to the emptied sifting bucket in reverse order. Each tray comes with it’s own equally thought out sturdy box and then is further safely shipped in another. Not that I think I’ll ever get around to it, but it would be interesting to know if these sifters can separate gold like the plastic panning trays. In any case, these single material sifters -unlike the mixed material plastic with metal screen gold panning trays- are fully recyclable if they aren’t really able in their future life to seperate out the spice melange from the sandworms on Arrakis or to successfully catch an Alien Xenomorph specimen and bring it back to earth (safely). I do believe the Sigourney and Timothée Worm, Pupae & Beetle Farmers Of The Future Universe will join me in agreeing with this endorsement. Happy siftings.
